Inglot Beauty Bloggers Event - Limerick

Hey Girls,
This week I attended a Blogger Event in Inglot Limerick, where they reviewed the upcoming products being released this week.
The first of these products, was the release of the New Rainbow Collection Eye shadows. All of these shadows have shimmer in them, but don't worry, it is very subtle. To look at them, they look full on glittery and sparkly but after being shown 2 demonstrations by the girls, I could see you can create gorgeous soft looks with all of the colours. I bought 3 of these and know I'm going to get so much use out of them.
They cost 8 euro each which is a brilliant price for 3 eye shadows.
For those of you that don't know Inglot,  they sell using a freedom palette system. The Inglot Freedom System offers a variety of empty palettes that you can fill with any of their Freedom System cosmetics (eye colors, lip colors, blushes, etc.). My kit is beginning to fill up with these bad boys.

The next thing they showed us, was the NEW 14 PIECE BRUSH SET!!!.. This is totally amazeballs. The brushes are fantastic quality and have absolutely every brush you would need including a handy case. This is perfect for a makeup artist or beautician starting out or even for anyone wanting brushes for their own use. They cost 150.00euro so that's only over 10 euro a brush and the quality of these is amazing. I have dropped so many hints that this is what for Christmas from himself....here's hoping he actually listens to me for a change.

Here's a list of what brushes are in this kit:
•Dense, soft and full, the largest brush is perfect for dusting powder over your entire look to give you the perfect matte finish.

•A full brush with a gentle angle makes it ideal for contouring, highlighting and sculpting your features to perfection.

•Soft eye shadow brush, perfect for blending your eye shadow to achieve the most professional look.

•Medium sized eye shadow brush uses stiffer hair for applying more colour to your skin, perfect for building up colour on the eye lid.

•Small lip brush with a rounded edge, allows you to blend your lip and lip liner colours smoothly whilst maintaining a crisp clean edge to your lip look.

•Brush to apply concealer on any area with talon fibres that ensure the cream does not stain the hair.

•Small fan brush has many uses including brushing away any excess eye shadow fallout from underneath the eye. This little tool is invaluable for a smokey eye.

•Small round domed brush is best used for smoking out that dramatic eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line.

•Small brush with the perfect density for applying liquid or gel eyeliner.

•Long lip brush is for applying colour to your lips.

•Fine haired liquid eyeliner brush makes the finest of lines the easiest to achieve. NYLON

•Dense large brush uses its blunt tip to apply generous amounts of product to the skin, ideal for applying blush colour to the apples of your cheeks for A fresh, youthful burst of colour.

•Foundation Brush with taklon bristles that makes it easy to apply your cream or liquid foundation for that flawless complexion. Your makeup is only ever as flawless as your foundation.

•Small angle brush can be used on lips, brows, eyes and even turns any of your powder eye shadows into a soft and subtle eyeliner.

:Also released are 5 new Metallic Nail Enamels each priced at €10 each. These will be fab for Christmas.

And Finally......The best bit..I got freebies..lol
This bit excited me the most. Normally you would receive leaflets about products and if you were lucky a small sample. But no Inglot do it in style. We received an eyeshadow, a lip glaze (---bloody yummy stuff, its a cross between lipstick and lip gloss, that lasts), a packet of their face wipes(which are just gorgeous and only 4 euro) a free nail polish and a free makeover.
On the night I bought a few bits -it would be rude not to, so I will have a series of reviews coming up from Inglot...

Makeup Events....

Recently I have gone to two different makeup events.
The first was a makeup masterclass with Inglot in Limerick. This was fantastic and I would recommend it to women of all ages. They went through in detail 2 different looks and showed step by step how to achieve each look. The staff were so friendly and helpful - without being sales pushy. They never once forced products on us and went out of their way to show how to use different products as say a lipstick as a blush or vice versa. I will defo go each time they run one of these just to see how the artists create their looks. The next class is on in December so check out their facebook page for details on this. Inglot Limerick
This class costs 30 euro and not only do you get a 3 hour masterclass they also give you back the voucher to spend in store on products. Also anyone that has a makeup or beauty diploma get a discount Pro card, that entitles you to 20% off.
The 2 looks they created, were a day smokey eye and the second look was a dramatic cat eyeliner look. I took at few pictures of the second look - sorry for the quality, just took them on the I-phone :

The next event I went to was the launch of Mac's new Collection - Glamour Daze. This is the new collection out for Christmas. Now while I loveeeeeee MAC and all of their products I have never had such a night of hard selling in my life. They asked us as we walked around what we thought of all the products. If you said you liked the colour of a lipstick or an eyeshadow - and you can imagine the amount of times I said --ohhh that's fab..they handed you the whole pile of products at the till. Then when we politely said no thanks and picked the few bits we wanted the look on the girls faces was comical. They went from smiling helpful assistants to girls pussing within seconds. The collection itself is fab. They never really showed how they applied the finished look but all of the girls had a look on. If you have plenty of mullah these kind of events are good. I bought an eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick and lip gloss. I'll do a review and look using these the next time I get out.

For those of you that don't know Inglot, they are a Polish makeup brand and they have a store in the Crescent in Limerick. Their products are amazing quality at fantastic prices. The only thing I'm not sold on with them are their foundations. I've tried most of them but still find MAC or Estee Lauder way better.

Also for anyone that likes mineral makeup or is interested in using mineral makeup checkout Blossom Ennis
Next Wednesday the 7th they have Lydia from Jane Iredale - THE SKIN CARE MAKEUP in the salon. Lydia is a very well established Make Up Artist and has worked in Bridal Make Up, Films and for RTE. They have some slots available for anyone who would like to have a FREE make over or one to one lesson with her. Their contact number is 065 6822255

Review Rimmel 3 for 2 offer

Hey Girls,

Boots are running their 3 for 1 offer across Makeup and Beauty Products. I had tried to be good lately as I have spent a small fortune on my kit from MAC and Inglot, but I just couldn't pass the Rimmel stand without buying a few bits for just me - it was calling me!!.

The first thing I got was a lipstick from the new Rimmel Matte Kate Moss Collection. I bought shade 110 which is a gorgeous bright orange red. Its advertised as being a complete matte lipstick but it actually has a really nice sheen. This is really comfortable to wear and as it is so moisturising it doesn't fade horrible, it just nicely wears off. This, to me is a dupe for MAC Lady Danger, with a sheen.
After using this lipstick I've decided I need the rest of them. I love the texture of these.

The 2 other goodies I got are the Nude and Black ScandelEyes Waterproof Eye Pencils. These are brilliant pencils, so soft and creamy and perfect for the waterline, and they actually stay there. The black is a really dark solid black that stays on forever. The nude is a flesh coloured pencil, which is great to open up and brighten the eyes. Great for days when you want to hide redness from tiredness. Also it is brilliant for mature ladies who naturally have alot of redness in their waterlines. Also as these are so creamy they are great to use as a cream shadow all over the lid.

Review Bourjois concealer and healthy mix foundation

I've been using this foundation for the last few weeks for everyday wear. I have to say to begin with I wasn't too sure of it but I now love the foundation. I normally wear MAC Prolongwear in NC35 which is a yellow based foundation which I love as it brightens up my skin. The colour which matched me best in the Healthy Mix Foundation is N0. 54. This is a beige toned foundation and I can only really get away with it with no tan on. Seeing as I rarely get to apply tan lately this suits me perfect once I bronze up my skin. This shade no. 54 is a perfect dupe of the shade NW25 from MAC.
Its a medium coverage foundation that really does last on combination to dry skin. For anyone that has combination/ oily skin this is perfect once its set with a powder. It would be fab on dry or mature skin as it gives a natural dewy glow without looking too shiny. I think I paid about 16 euro for this and it has lasted me so long. It applies best using a buffer type foundation brush.

Now the concealer is a different story. It all looked fab, I loved the tube packaging and the shade I got in this was 53 Dark Radiance, it looked like the sort of shade and texture I was after, which I thought looked perfect for hiding the purple tones under my eyes but it covers nothing. It blends into skin with barely any coverage and is very pale. This is one of those products you use 2 or 3 times and then forget about. A real waste of 10 euro.

Hope this helps...xx

Summer Nails

Hi peoples,
I'm just doing my nails for a wedding I'm going to tomorrow and I thought I'd show you this fab new colour I've just bought. The colour is 820 Pimp my Shrimp from Catrice cosmetics. Its a gorgeous orange coral shade, just perfect for Summer time. I also have it on my toes and it makes them even look kinda nice - HATE toes!!

After I apply 2 coats of this, I then apply The Essence gel-look topcoat which gives it a really nice sheen. Here's a few pics, don't worry there are none in there of me hooves...xxx

Review: Essence Eyebrow Pencil

Hey everyone,
I've been using this pencil everyday for the last few weeks and I have to say it is an absolute gem of a product. It costs only €1:49 and it's available from Penneys or Dunnes. What I love about this bad boy is that it stays in place all day and doesn't smudge or run. As I have very thin brows, regular pencils don't really work for me but I find because the actual pencil itself is really stiff (and once you keep it sharpened) it lets you create your preferred eyebrow shape. I have it in 2 shades, 04 - Blonde and 02 - Brown. Both of these have made it into my professional kit and my own make-up bag. Defo one to buy.
Here's a few pics of the amazing effects of this pencil....lol

Magazine Benefit Freebies....

Hey Girls,

It's that time of year again, where you get your bite size Benefit treats in Glamour Magazine.

As I'm a sample whore I picked up 2 magazines and got myself a sample or their Pore Professional Balm and a Bad Gal Mascara. I'm not too gone on the mascara, I've used it before and found it a bit dry, but it was way too cute to leave behind. As for the Pore Professional Balm I've been wanting to try this for ages.
These are so handy to pop in your makeup bag. The magazine itself costs just 2.97euro and are on the shelves now...

Review - Eau Thermale Avene High Protection Compact Foundation SPF 50

Phew...that's a mouthful of a name. As I am always on a foundation search I requested a sample of this beauty to try. Alot of my clients would ask me about different foundations to suit their skin types and as its coming into summer most want something lighter in coverage. Now, I am definitely a fan of medium to full coverage and wasn't expecting much from this for me, as it states its a tint -  that word actually scares me. Boy was I shocked with this. It has now replaced all my usual day foundations of MAC, Estee Lauder and Christian Dior. I tried it the first day with a sponge provided and it applied way too thick and mucky, but I then used the Real Techniques buffing brush and it goes on like a dream. Once you apply your concealer for the olde bags and set this with powder you are good to go. I think its just the best idea, not only have you lovely fresh looking skin, it has factor 50 and excellent coverage. Irish people tend to forget about any kind of sun protection but apart from the whole skin cancer fear there is also the dreaded fear of ageing!!!!...I think I'm really now starting to think of skin and aging now that I'm hitting mid thirties..sob sob..why did I fry myself in baby oil when I was younger!!!
What I also love about this is that its a compact, I haven't used a compact for years since I used the muck that is Elizabeth Arden but I find it so handy to whip this bad boy out if I need to have a quick touch up.
I think this foundation will be brilliant for anyone that doesn't have very oily skin. I have normal skin type with an oily t-zone and this is perfect for me - once I set this with powder. It doesn't leave me very shiny and find I'd only touch up my makeup once after about 8 hours. This would look fab on someone with very dry skin as its going to add natural dewiness to your skin. You don't need a separate sunblock, and it's very gentle on your skin. One thing to remember with this foundation is that it has an SPF of 50 so its not camera friendly, perfect for every day but not good if your planning on having photographs as the SPF diffuses light and make you look ghostly.

Eau Thermale Avène High Protection Tinted Compact SPF 50
·Handbag friendly size
·Protects against UVB/UVA sunlight
·Conceals imperfections and evens out skin tone.
·100% mineral free
·No chemical filters
·Fragrance free
·Paraben free
·Water resistant
How to use
Before sun exposure, apply thin layer (at least 1g) of product onto facial skin, reapply frequently (every 2 hours) and after towel drying, swimming, or perspiring.
Avoid contact with eyes.
Eau Thermale Avène High Protection Tinted Compact SPF 50 Beige €25.41,10g

Pros:
• Provides SPF50.

• Gives flawless natural skin and blends easily

• Suitable for sensitive skin types.

Cons:
• Limited shade range. Only two shades are offered, and while both are workable for me, this is really not right see as there are more skin shades out there...get on it Avene. The lightest shade, which is the one I have Sable/Beige is about a NW25 from MAC and the darker shade is the Dore/Honey shade, which can turn slightly peach on skin. Its about a NW30.

• Not suitable for oily skin types.

Review - La Roche Posay Physiological Micellar Solution

Howdy...
I have been on the hunt for a new cleanser for a while now. The last cleanser I have just used up is the La Roche Posay Physiological Micellar Solution.

Physiological Micellar Solution
A micellar cleanser is a water-like cleanser specifically tailored to sensitive, imperfection-prone skin. It cost me 15.00euro from Cassisy's Pharmacy Ennis which I thought was great until I realised I had the whole thing used up in under 2 weeks. If you're on a budget, using this as a makeup remover, especially if you love slapping on the muck like me, will end up being a very expensive product. I will repurchase this but will keep it only for a morning cleanser or maybe as a quick fix after I come in from a night out.
What I think this would be perfect for is someone suffering from breakouts or Rosacea or even a cleanser to take on holidays if your planning on being sunburned. It doesn't irritate sensitive skin and eyes, isn't drying and this cleanser will leave your feeling clean and refreshed.
I wouldn't recommend this for teenagers and early twenty-somethings, who often prefer a more aggressive cleansing process due to higher oil production, I might suggest using this as a toner--it will sweep away dead skin, but it won't irritate skin, which can often be counter-productive for dealing with oiliness or acne.
 Hope this helps.

Primark Cotton Wool

Hey everyone......I just have a little post, I know its a shitty post but I just wanted to vent to you. Last week while buying more crap from Penney's I picked up a double pack of cotton wool pads, thinking I was getting a great bargain for just 1 euro.

Boy was I bloody wrong. They are absolutely crap. They fall apart at the lightest touch and leave horrible stringy bits of cotton wool all over your face. All the fluff sticks to your eyelashes and eyebrows and removes NO makeup. On top of that they seem to have little flecks of wood!! or something in them that took a lovely chunk of skin off my eyelid......

My advice to all of ye is by pass the bas***ds and pay the extra euro for proper cotton wool....

Now rant over..I must go and rub vaseline into my poor eyeball...xxxx

Review - Rimmell Lash Accelerator Mascara

Sorry everyone - Another mascara review....I'm gone a little obsessed!!

I really wanted to like this mascara. I love Rimmel and have always had a great experience with their products and the fact that this had a lash accelerator and wasn't too expensive got me really excited about this.
I have read so many reviews on this mascara and the results are half and half, people either hate it or absolutely love it!!
For this review I have done something a little different, I got my poor momma to be the guinea pig. My eyes have gotten very sensitive at the minute, probably from constantly trying so many products, so I have been sticking to my trusty Boujois Mascara for sensitive eyes. My mum was saying she wanted to try something different so I picked this bad boy out for her to try. She was looking for all the things this mascara was offering, a thin wand as she has short lashes and the promise of new longer fuller healthier lashes.

This is how Rimmel describe it...
Lash Accelerator Mascara is our first mascara that actually helps to promote the natural growth of beautifully long, remarkably strong lashes. Instantly, your lashes look up to 80% longer, but then after 30 days of continued use, they’ll appear up to 117% longer! Our exclusive GROW-LASH complex, features Procapil® which works to strengthen lashes’ roots and also contains natural lash enhancing ingredients such as, biotin, keratin, and bamboo extract which help to reinforce, restore and moisturize your lashes.
After reading this I was expecting momma to have Kim Kardashian's eyelashes but unfortunately this didn't happen. She wasn't too impressed and let me know she would never buy this again - whoooopsies.
Now first off though, she did like the wand, found it very easy to use and she really liked how the bristles were distributed. However, she found that the formula was too watery and it took FOREVER to dry. Throughout the day, it kept on bleeding through her under eye area as well, leaving her with panda eyes. She also thought it felt very heavy on her lashes. This was discarded and binned after about 2 weeks so I never got to find out if it would have made her lashes grow thicker or stronger.

Overall, this was not worth the 10 to 11 euro spent on it and it definitely does not do what it says on the tin.

Magazine Freebies March 2012

Every couple of months I break my magazine ban and go a bit gaga and buy a few magazines purely for their excellent selection of freebies. And I never, ever read the bloody things just throw them out. Here's the 2 magazines I picked up this week with some juicy freebies

Firstly, check out this month's Glamour magazine, which includes a 100ml tube of hair conditioner by the brand Percy of Reed

Here's how it is described: "This bottle is packed with moisturising marvels. Blueberry extract, grape seed oil, sweet almond oil and aloe vera gel all combine quite beautifully to hydrate and deeply nourish your hair."
I'd never heard of the brand Percy & Reed, until this week and have to say it is a lully conditioner, my fuzzy hair felt and looked shiny and soft after this.
The second magazine I bought this week was Elle, purely because of the freebie, which is the Soap and Glory Mascara.

The Mascara itself is 14.00euro to buy in Boots so I got a good bargain in this one. I've been so impressed so far with their makeup so love getting to try more of their products. The mascara itself is a very natural black mascara that has a glossy finish. Defo a good one to get for free in a magazine as it doesn't harden the lashes and doesn't flake but not good enough to repurchase I think. I'll keep trying it and see do I change my mind....

No7 Stay Perfect Smoothing and Brightening Eye Base - Eye Primer

Yet another day and I'm standing in Boots after being handed a 7.50euro off voucher for No. 7 and I haven't a clue what to buy. So far in the last few weeks I've gotten from No. 7 - 3 nail polishes - each one of them more crap than the next, a cuticle cream which was a bit blah, an eyebrow pencil for brown/black hair - this one is a red orangey pencil which would only be flattering on someone with roaring red hair!!! and a lip gloss that's like wallpaper paste. All in all I 'm not a great fan of their makeup..its a bit shite for what it costs.
But regardless of how shite they are I wasn't leaving without some little piece of free makeup or relatively cheaper makeup. I was just about to grab a horrible black eye pencil to use up the voucher when this little bad boy caught my eye.
Its called the ' Stay Perfect Smoothing and Brightening Eye Base' and I LOVE this eyelid primer. To me its a creamier dupe of MAC Painterly Paint Pot at half the price.

Because of the pigment in this the product it helps to hide veins and dark spots as well as being a lovely base to pack your eye shadows onto. It really helps intensify the colour and in my experience it helps prevent the shadows creasing. This is also lovely to wear on its own with just a flick of eyeliner and some mascara as it really does brighten up the eye.
When I first got this, it creased on me badly because I applied too much so the trick with this product is to use it sparingly. It comes with a sponge tip applicator but you would do better tossing that and using other means of applying it like with your finger tip or a brush.
It cost 10.50euro so I just had to give 3 bucks for this with the voucher and since I got it I've used it everyday. Because this sucker is so creamy I don't think it would be great if you had very oily lids.
